If there's one thing we love about trucking events, it’s the energy. This year’s Florida Trucking Show was no exception—packed with passionate people, from seasoned carriers to newcomers looking to break into the industry. We talked, listened, and learned—and trust us, we walked away with some great insights!

So, here’s a fun recap of what we saw, heard, and took away from the show!

1. Trucking Dreams Are Bigger Than Ever

One of the biggest takeaways? A lot of people are looking to start or grow their own trucking company but are searching for the right way to do it. With the U.S. economy expected to grow at a steady 2.1% year-over-year in 2025, the trucking industry is full of opportunities. It’s exciting to see so many ambitious minds ready to take the wheel!

2. The Right Tools = Running Lean

We spoke with tons of owner-operators and carriers who are on the hunt for ways to run lean. Many are still managing operations through spreadsheets and manual processes, making AI and automation a hot topic of discussion.

There’s still a common perception that technology is only for big fleets with big budgets—but that’s no longer the case! Even the smallest trucking company can (and should!) leverage tools like a Transportation Management System (TMS) to streamline operations and boost profitability. The best part? The return on investment (ROI) for a small carrier can be achieved in just one week!

3. Brokers Are Still the Go-To for Many Carriers

For decades, the industry has relied on load boards to keep trucks moving. But here’s the real key to success: having a balanced mix of brokers, direct shipper relationships, and smart technology.

When we introduced carriers to a new feature in the Truckpedia TMS that links them directly with shippers to boost revenue growth, the enthusiasm was palpable!

"I didn’t know I could work directly with shippers as a small carrier"

"This database of shipper contacts and the automation tools would definitely help us land new business.”

It's estimated that 70-80% of carriers—especially smaller ones—still depend on brokers because they lack the resources or tools to connect with shippers directly. But that’s changing, and technology is leveling the playing field.

4. People Are Eager to Connect!

The excitement in the air was real! Trucking isn’t just a business—it’s a community. Carriers, shippers, and industry pros were all eager to meet, exchange ideas, and explore new ways to work together. Events like this prove that networking is one of the biggest advantages in the industry.

5. Truckers = One Big Family

We met so many incredible people at the show, including our amazing booth neighbors Juan Ladino from Diesel Group Inc. and Terry from JJOA—shoutout if either of you are reading this!

Anyone in the trucking world knows firsthand that this industry is tough. But you don’t have to do it alone. Trucking is built on support, teamwork, and idea-sharing—and that’s what keeps it strong.

Final Thoughts

The Florida Trucking Show reminded us that the industry is evolving, and those who embrace innovation, community, and direct connections will thrive. Whether you’re just starting out or have been in the game for years, there are always new ways to grow.

At the end of the day, the biggest lesson was clear: trucking isn’t just about moving freight—it’s about moving forward, together.
